East Bay Blazers Clinch Thrilling Victory Over Seattle Thunderbolts
August 29, 2023

In a thrilling encounter at Tollgate Farm Park, on Aug. 27th, the East Bay Blazers secured a victory by 4 wickets over the Seattle Thunderbolts in the Minor League Cricket Pacific Conference Twenty20 tournament.

The Seattle Thunderbolts won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 145 runs. Their innings were marked by several ups and downs, with key contributions coming from Ian Chauhan (37 runs off 33 balls) and Shadley Van Schalkwyk (42 runs off 33 balls).

Despite some middle-order resistance, including a quick 13-run cameo by Mehdi Hasan, the Thunderbolts posted a total of 144/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Sanjay Krishnamurthi of the East Bay Blazers was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for just 17 runs in his 4-over spell..

In response, the East Bay Blazers started steadily but lost wickets at regular intervals. Adithya Ganesh (37 runs off 30 balls) and Vikash Mohan (30 runs off 34 balls) were the primary contributors to their chase.

The Thunderbolts bowlers managed to keep the pressure on, with Siva Kumar Duvvarapu and Shadley Van Schalkwyk picking up crucial wickets. However, it was Hamza Tariq’s explosive 17-run knock off 7 balls towards the end that propelled the Blazers to victory. They reached the target in the final over, finishing at 146/6 in 20 overs.

Sanjay Krishnamurthi’s all-round performance earned him the well-deserved title of “Man of the Match” for his valuable contributions with both bat and ball.

Brief Scores

Seattle Thunderbolts: 144/7 in 20 overs (Ian Chauhan 37, Shadley Van Schalkwyk 42; Sanjay Krishnamurthi 3/17)
East Bay Blazers: 146/6 in 20 overs (Adithya Ganesh 37, Vikash Mohan 30; Mehdi Hasan 2/29)
